Etcetera...

You know when you have one of those days that is just off the charts good, it makes all the work that went into making that day happen worth every minute? Today was one of those days for me. LBA held the first annual Professional Development Conference. Fifty of the state’s most dedicated bankers attended.  Nine of the most talented speakers presented very practical, valuable and usable sessions. The Professional Development Conference is part of a larger plan to meet the needs of LBA member banks that began nearly 10 years ago. At that time, bankers were telling us they were working on succession planning, talent training and emerging leaders’ programs. As support for those efforts, LBA put some programming in place, in addition to today’s Professional Development Conference:

  • LBA Leadership School that today boasts over 200 alumni aids in “Growing our Next Generation of Leaders”. Bankers take the Hogan Management Assessment, receive one-on-one coaching based on the assessment, and meet monthly for five months to cover leadership as well as bank-specific topics. Click here to see details of the upcoming School.
  • Women Bank Executives’ Forum is a professional development series exclusively for female banking executives who meet three times a year. The Forum includes facilitated training and round-table discussions.
  • Leadership Day is being offered in West Monroe on October 24 and in Baton Rouge on December 11. This Day is built to develop leadership skills and create a leadership vision. Click here to see details.
  • PWR – Professional Women Revitalizeda webpage full of resources, a peer group for facilitated round table discussions and advise from seasoned bank womenall come together to “mentor” bankers into a more successful career. See the webpage here
  • Bankers School of Supervisory Training that has over 4,000 alumni is a week long program, developing managerial skills for front line supervisors. Click here to take a look at this year’s program, June 4-8 in Baton Rouge.
  • The Louisiana Bankers Education Council’s mission is to facilitate banker development and promote financial literacy outreach to Louisiana bankers. LBEC supports/sponsors all of these leadership training programs and are involved in ongoing discussions about how to continue to make them more valuable. Click here for more information

My faith in the future of Louisiana’s banking industry is strong. We have passionate bankers dedicated to the success of the industry. These bankers know that by enhancing their own professional development they become better bankers. Thank you for allowing us along for the ride.  It is absolutely awesome!

Enjoy banking!
