Principles of Banking (9 week course via Zoom)
Louisiana Bankers Association is pleased to once again offer the ABA Principles of Banking course in a virtual format (9-week course via Zoom) beginning on Tuesday September 22 and ending Friday November 20. Each class is 9am-11am. Orientation will be held Friday September 18 from 9am-10am. See full list of class dates below. Course will include weekly chapter reading assignments, a midterm exam and a final exam.
Registration Fee & Registration Deadline
Member Fee: $495 (includes all 9 sessions and 12th edition Principles of Banking Textbook)
Non-Member Fee: $895 (includes all 9 sessions and 12th edition Principles of Banking Textbook)
Registration Deadline: For our planning purposes, please register by September 9, 2026.
*Participants must have the ability to speak using Zoom (either using computer microphone or dialed by phone). It is also highly recommended that all registered participants have the ability to use a webcam.
Overview

- Overview of banking functions, competitors and future trends
- Review of banking history including legislation, regulations and regulatory agencies
- Breakdown of bank financials – income statement, balance sheet and bank performance metrics
- Products and services – deposits, loans, financial planning, trust services and business banking
- Digital banking – payment systems, online banking, mobile banking and remote capture
- Enhancing customer relationships – bank involvement in the community, importance of cross-selling and relationship building as well as exceeding customer expectations
- The safeguarding of banks, their employees and their customers – fraud, corporate governance, privacy and cybersecurity risks

- Session 1/Chapter 1 - Tuesday September 22 from 9am-11am
- Session 2/Chapter 2 - Friday October 2 from 9am-11am
- Session 3/Chapter 3 - Friday October 9 from 9am-11am
- Session 4/Chapter 4 and 5 and Midterm Review - Friday October 16 from 9am-11am
- Midterm exam to be completed on Chapters 1-5 (Midterm Exam posted on 10/16 and will allow up to 1 week for completion)
- Session 5/Chapter 6 - Tuesday October 20 from 9am-11am
- Session 6/Chapter 7 - Friday October 30 from 9am-11am
- Session 7/Chapter 8 - Friday November 6 from 9am-11am
- Session 8/Chapter 9 - Friday November 13 from 9am-11am
- Session 9/Chapter 10 and Final Exam Review - Friday November 20 from 9am-11am
- Final Exam to be completed on Chapters 6-10 (Final Exam posted on 11/20 and will allow up to 1 week for completion

The price of this program is inclusive of all 9 sessions. If you must cancel your registration, please do so by September 9, 2026 to avoid a $250 cancellation fee. Once the course begins, substitutions will not be allowed.
