Overview

What are your first, second and third lines of defense in managing vendors of your institution?  This webinar will review the importance of third party relationship management.  The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) (collectively, “the agencies”) have issued guidance to provide sound risk-management principles that supervised banking organizations can leverage when developing and implementing risk-management practices to assess and manage risks associated with third-party relationships. Whether activities are performed internally or via a third party, banking organizations are required to operate in a safe and sound manner and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A banking organization’s use of third parties does not diminish its responsibility to meet these requirements to the same extent as if its activities were performed by the banking organization in-house. To operate in a safe and sound manner, a banking organization establishes risk management practices to effectively manage the risks arising from its activities, including from third-party relationships.

Topics include:

  • Who are your vendors and what do they do?
  • Who signs off to hire a third party?
