BATON ROUGE—Capt. Virgie Lemaire of the Kaplan Police Department received a 2009 LBA Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award at the LBA Annual Security Meeting, which was held September 15-16 at the Lafayette Hilton.

“We are pleased to present Capt. Lemaire with this award. A good working relationship between bankers and law enforcement is a vital part of our business,” said Robert T. Taylor, LBA chief executive officer.

Capt. Lemaire was nominated by Christie L. Hargrave of Vermilion Bank in Kaplan. In listing the details of Capt. Lemaire’s outstanding service, Hargrave said, “During her time with the Kaplan Police Department, she has truly been a public servant to our community by continually going above and beyond her responsibilities to ensure the community of Kaplan has a safe environment.”

Each year, LBA recognizes outstanding law enforcement officers who assist banks with the investigation of financial crimes. The people are nominated by bankers from across the state.
