The Louisiana Bankers Education Council has assisted the Louisiana Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy by speaking at Teacher In-Service Training seminars. These seminars provided a quality learning opportunity for Louisiana's teachers so that they may be better informed to prepare students in grades 6-12 for the personal financial decisions they will make in the future. Locations included Lafayette, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Ruston, Lake Charles, and Shreveport.

During these in-service training sessions, the Louisiana Bankers Education Council were available as resources for teachers or schools during the ensuing semester. Financial topics that were discussed were:

• Using credit wisely
• Finding the type of credit that works for you
• Understanding what qualifies you for credit
• Shopping for credit
• Applying for credit
• How your credit application is reviewed
• What if your credit application is turned down
• Building a good credit history
• What if you can't pay your bills?
• Know your credit rights
• How credit changes to meet your needs
